FibreSpan completes second LAN extension for Sotheby’s

London, United Kingdom, 9 September 2008

Sotheby’s, the international art auction house, has selected FibreSpan, the national network carrier that specialises in dedicated dark fibre and ultra-high bandwidth network services, to provide a custom built gigabit fibre LAN connection for the second time this year.  The completion of this connection will form a critical component of the FibreSpan built network that began in March.

Located in the heart of London’s West End, Sotheby’s have expanded into new offices which have required network connectivity to the primary office LAN.  Sotheby’s needed to find the best possible solution to provide the quality, reliability, and overall value it required.  It also needed a provider that could build this bespoke connection in London’s premier shopping district with minimal impact.

Sotheby’s selected FibreSpan to design, install and operate the gigabit Ethernet connections that would connect its Headquarters to nearby satellite offices, providing a best fit solution with the required level of capacity and security.   FibreSpan also provided a dedicated connection for voice services, offering Sotheby’s with a fully integrated, easy to manage solution.

“Due to the nature of Sotheby’s business, it is vital that they have an infrastructure that provides reliability and guaranteed security.  We are delighted that our Gigaspan dedicated fibre connection has been able to help Sotheby’s satisfy these requirements within their budget and challenging timescale.” says Robert Bicket, Chief Executive of FibreSpan.

FibreSpan’s high bandwidth network service is an ideal solution for organisations where high-performance, resilience, control, and security are absolutely critical. It provides dedicated point-to-point connectivity – a future proof solution fit for a rapidly changing business environments.
