FibreSpan celebrates landmark contract win

Selected as dark fibre provider of choice for Stevenage

London, United Kingdom, 14 April 2006

FibreSpan, one of the country’s leading dark fibre solution providers, announced that it has been awarded a contract with Stevenage Borough Council to provide bespoke dark fibre connectivity.  The company was selected following a rigorous tendering process against other dark fibre providers, as well as traditional incumbents.

Linking the head office in the town centre with two new major sites on a MAN star configuration, the Council will use the network to carry data, voice, IP and other applications, including CCTV systems.  With a total deployment of 3Km of network, FibreSpan will supply multiple fibres to each location to provide a solution that will meet bandwidth requirements for the distant future.

FibreSpan was selected based on its competitive fixed price dark fibre solution, ability to consistently deliver strong project management, emphasis on customer service and evidence of robust deployments across the country.

Following a strong run of contract wins, this success has particular significance.  “We are delighted to have been selected by Stevenage Borough Council against competing dark fibre providers.  This win proves that our business model enables us to deliver the most competitive, genuinely future proof network solutions to customers,” comments Robert Bicket, CEO of FibreSpan.

“We are well positioned to provide Stevenage with resilient and scalable connectivity needed to meet future requirements and budgets”.
