London, United Kingdom, 3 May 2006
University of Liverpool today announced that it will continue to upgrade its city-wide network infrastructure with a second dark fibre network designed, built and maintained by FibreSpan.
Connecting the Carnatic Halls of Residence and the University’s main city-wide backbone, FibreSpan’s solution facilitates the transport of high bandwidth voice, data and IP services across secure, dedicated fibre network. By providing increased speed, flexibility and scalability, the installation will form an integral part of the University’s city-wide network upgrade.
As a key phase of this major programme, the University was attracted to FibreSpan’s fixed price dark fibre leased line solution, delivered at a significantly lower cost than traditional providers.
The dedicated dark fibre network upgrade will enable the customer to confidently deal with the increasing volumes of data traffic generated by growing student numbers and next generation multimedia content. FibreSpan provides the foundation for a long term future proof high bandwidth solution, leveraging its patent pending microduct technology to deploy dark fibre significantly faster and at a lower cost than traditional deployment methods.
