FibreSpan delivers bespoke network for University of Liverpool

London, United Kingdom, 14 February 2006

FibreSpan, the country’s premier source for affordable dark fibre networks, announced that it is to deliver a custom-built dark fibre link as part of the University of Liverpool’s high bandwidth city-wide network, which support 20,000 students across 54 schools and departments.

The University required future proof high speed connectivity as part of its emergent backbone network which connects a number of campuses across the city.  This particular deployment links the University of Liverpool Campus with John Moores University Tower, supporting internet, data, voice and other applications.

As a key phase of this major programme, the University was attracted to FibreSpan’s fixed price dark fibre leased line solution, delivered at a significantly lower cost than traditional providers.  It provides the customer with complete control, flexibility and scalability for a fixed annual fee over the duration of the contract.

Delivering additional fibre pairs at a low additional cost, the solution delivers premium networking power to meet the University’s immediate networking requirements, yet is flexible and scalable to support future requirements.  FibreSpan provides the foundations for a long term future proof high bandwidth solution, leveraging its patent pending microduct technology to deploy dark fibre significantly faster and at a lower cost than traditional deployment methods.
